Terms

These terms cover your use of Drylab, run by Guy Gendell ("we"), during its invite-only research preview. By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Drylab. Questions: legal@drylab.app.

The short version. Drylab is for research. Its results are predictions from models, many of them not yet checked against real data, and they are not a substitute for a wet-lab experiment. Do not use them for clinical, diagnostic or therapeutic decisions. During the preview, compute comes from your invite and you are not charged.

Who may use Drylab

You must be at least 18, or the age at which you can enter a contract where you live. If you use Drylab for a lab, company or other organisation, you agree to these terms for it and confirm you are allowed to.

Research use only

Drylab simulates cells with published models and our own engines. Every result says whether it was checked against measurements ("Checked") or not ("Theory"), and the documentation lists what each model leaves out. Even checked results can be wrong for your conditions. Drylab is not a medical device and must not be used to diagnose, treat or prevent disease, or to make decisions about a person's care.

Acceptable use

Do not use Drylab to:

We may suspend accounts that break these rules.

Your content

You keep all rights to the conditions you set, the files you upload and your results. You give us permission to store and process them only to run the service for you. You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload. We do not use your uploads to train or tune models unless you explicitly opt in for a given upload.

Models and data from others

Drylab runs published models and data under their own licences, listed with credits on the third-party licences page. Some are modified by Drylab (for example, the cell-line models are Human1 reduced using DepMap expression data). Exports carry each model's source and licence. Follow those licences when you reuse what you export.

No warranty, and limits on liability

Drylab and its results are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or availability. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses or for decisions made from results. Our total liability for all claims is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (nothing, during the preview) or 50 US dollars. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or anything else the law does not allow to be limited.

If your use causes a claim against us

If someone brings a claim against us because you broke these terms or the law while using Drylab, or because of content you uploaded, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and losses that claim causes us, including reasonable legal fees. We will tell you about the claim promptly and will not settle it in a way that puts obligations on you without asking you.

Ending

You can stop using Drylab and ask us to delete your account at any time (see Privacy). We may end the preview or your access, and will try to give you time to export your work first.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell signed-in users before it takes effect.

Governing law

These terms, and any dispute about them or about Drylab, are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its rules on conflicts of law. Disputes will be heard only in the state or federal courts located in California. If you are a consumer whose local law gives you protections that cannot be given up by contract, you keep them.

General

These terms and the privacy notice are the whole agreement between you and us about Drylab. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest stay in force. If we do not enforce something, we have not given up the right to later. You may not transfer these terms; we may transfer them to whoever takes over Drylab.
